Sock Yarn dress

This dress is simply beautiful......well at least I think the pattern is beautiful and it is good for my zen to develop the patience to knit it LOL!!!
I'm generally an Aran weight knitter - 4.5mm needles -grows nice and quickly. This is 2 ply sock yarn and by comparison is like knitting in spider silk.
HOWEVER - the effect is this gorgeous gossamer like knit that will work beautifully for a wee girly dress.
The yarn I'm experimenting with is a 75% wool self striping yarn. My local shop stocks tons of this stuff in the most amazing colourways. I'm hoping this dress takes off as a summer special. I want to knit more!
Shown so far is the skirt. 64cm of garter stitch 75 stitch row. The next stage is to pick up stitches down one side and gather to make a skirt with the stitches running vertically.
Keep you posted!!!

Finished soakerless skirty

I love this - so much so that if I had the time I would knit myself one! The yarn is so perfect - it hangs just so beautifully.

Weekend knittery

Been a clicky weekend. I've finished a pair of seamless soakers in Sunny Days and git stuck into a lovely soakerless skirty. Both my boys have been poorly sick thiis weekend so I've been confined to barracks - hence lots of knitting!

The skirty is in a wool and cotton mix yarn and is really pretty. It's a lot heavier and so I think it will hang really well. I've knitted it really full (I now have over 300 stitches on my needles!!!). I am really looking forward to getting to the length so that I can cast off - you can't appreciate the skirt while it's still on the needles.

The Gruffalo Hoody challenge

Just the hood to finish - but I couldn't resist getting on with the embroidery in between.
I'm pretty chuffed with this. I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull it off - but my 3 year old recognised it so I must be close!

Tough cookie challenge progress pic.

I've completed the knitting for these crops now - just need to sew them up and make a cord. I'm looking at ways to get the motif on there too.

OOga Booga Patchwork longies

Promised I'd keep the progress blogged - I love the idea of patchworking in this way (although now I'm working from 4 yarns at the same time I am swearing a bit at all the untangling required!!!).
I think they are going to look fabby.

Progress pic of Oriental themed dress

I am loving this one!
So far I have basically (with a bit of tweaking here and there!) taken the shape of a ballet wrap around cardi and knitted the parts to make a wrap over style top half to the dress. I've redesigned the sleeves to be more like I have seen on kimono inspired dresses. Plus I figured that tehy would still look good as bubba grows and they became more 3/4 length.
The ribbon arrived today and it's everything I hoped for.
Obviously it all needs sewing and I intend to edge it around the neck in the same colour as the skirt.
But here it is so far!

Farm challenge - embroidery

Next installment!
xxx

First part of the Farm challenge...

Oh grrrrrr.......just lost a whole explanatory post on this jumper. Haven't time to rewrite it all! Suffice to say that this is the basic jumoer for the farmer challenge. I will embroider it later.
The sleeves and hood colour is a bit of an addition as I saw this yarn on Friday and it matches perfectly with the yarn for the longies - simply couldn't resist.
I want to knit one of these for my boys - they are lovely. Oscar was my model for designing it and he looks sooooo cue and snuggly in it! My poor children never have anything mummy made!

Lazy blogger!

I'm slapping my own wrist! I have a bit of an excuse as I had my Ofsted Inspection as a child minder last week (I didn't get to know what day!) and I was living in a world of pointless paperwork to prepare for it. All done now and I came out with a "Good" in all areas which I'm chuffed with. Better still I'm reunited with my needles and determined to make February a busy busy month.
I've lauched a challenge month - hoping for takers. Details on the website.
Here's the last few items I haven't put up here yet. The Matrushka doll set turned out brilliantly - really pleased with that one.

Happy New Year!

Well folks - back at last! Not been blogging much but have been knitting a plenty. I decided to take a break from ickle people knitting over Christmas and knit my lovely husband a hoody. It seemed a bit unfair that he never gets anything becaue I'm always knitting for other people!!! With a little help from my mum I got it done over the Christmas and new year week. I'll get around to posting him in it at some point!
Since being back on task I've knitted a lovely pair of Blue Lion King longies, a pair of longies in the round and now this gorgeous skirty. I'm really pleased with this one. It's for the little girly I childmind for so a bit special. I've popped it on the site as a custom style though. I was rather amazed at how much yarn it took. Frills are very labour intensive!!!
We've had loads of snow this past week - Ihaven't been able to brave going out as we live on a hill that is like an ice slick. I can just about make it solo - but I wouldn't trust myself with a buggy and toddler in tow! Oh well - means lots of snuggling on the sofa and knitting!
Love to everyone and a big Happy New Year!!!
